Linda Benson at Pipes
She is so sweet. I shot her early in her career also. I have known Linda since she learned how to surf. I was a lifeguard at Moonlight Beach with John Elwell for SD County. Rusty Miller was in high school with Linda at San Dieguito. I think John got Linda surfing and that would have been about 1956. This shot was in 2004. I helped her with her web page. She was a crazy kid back then. A lot of fun. Ask Donald Takayama about those days. He knew her well. She went to high school at Pt Loma with my wife Linda, in 59 and 60, then moved north finally graduating from San Dieguito.

Rell Sunn
Rell Sunn was a beautiful lady and a good friend of my wife. She liked this shot so much she had me make her about 100 prints and handed them out on promotions. She was just the nicest person. I never heard her speak an unkind word on anybody. This photo was taken at Makaha.

Horse in the shore break in Del Mar
The horse is paddling out. This was scary. I was right in front at times. I had a Calypso camera, a French camera, and 35mm lens. You advance it like a Nikonos in fact this camera was the prelude to the Nikonos. Someone stole it in Mexico while I was getting my hair cut. Lucky they didn't get my 650-century lens as well. I think the barber was in cahoots with the thieves cause when the barber turned me around the camera disappeared from the car. That would be 63 in Tijuana right around the corner from the Long Bar.

Horse again
I talked to the rider and the horses name was "Redds Ladd". This was right at the river mouth in Del Mar. Supposedly it was good for their hooves to go in the water. I was there and watching and decided to go in the water and shoot. There were other horses out this day. In this shot if you look closely you'll see the horse was smiling at me. He was either smiling that he was going to get me or he was just getting a good ride in the shore break.

Randy Myers
I liked this Hawaiian shot. He is shadowed but I liked this shot.
